SCHOLARSHIPS

All the funds APEM Foundation gathers, go directly to the Jaime Lucero Institute of Mexican Studies at CUNY, which seeks to foster research, teaching and learning with Mexican and Mexican-American communities and promote the enrollment, retention and graduation of Mexicans and Mexican-American students in CUNY.

One of our primary goals is to build an endowment of funding for scholarships to complement the funding we have already received from the government of Mexico, and other generous contributions of private donors.

As part of the scholarship program, the Becari@s (scholarship winners) have to complete a 200 hour internship at a Community Based Organization or City Agency, working towards the betterment of the Immigrant Community.

Furthermore, they are also offered a monthly professionalization seminar to expose them to potential careers, create networking opportunities, and they are assigned a mentor. Becari@s join a very special group of over a 100 alumni of over 8 different countries of origin who, since 2012, have become executive directors of non-profits, entrepreneurs, columnists, and especially community leaders and advocates who are influencing change in our community.

When supporting our scholarship program, 100% of your contribution goes directly to fund scholarships. This scholarship primarily aids students with little or no access to other funding sources. In addition, we do not take into consideration immigration status, this program has been particularly successful in aiding undocumented students.
